Just thought I’d put a post out there because I’m continually surprised by how few people on mine or construction sites have discovered the benefits of Skype. So many of you have laptops and access to the net but continue to use the phone to talk to the people you’ve left behind. What a waste of money!
Get onto Skype! If you’ve got web access at home and on site, you can do video calls for free!
(I don’t use it myself but you can also call a normal mobile or home line from Skype too)
This isn’t an advert by the way. It’s just a brilliant service you should know about. I talk to friends and family on it all the time. You can choose to talk without a camera, attach a camera or to type in ‘real time’ (like MSN). I’ve made the blue comment above into a link that’ll take you to the registration page of Skype. It’s really easy to set up. You can see it in action on the pic I’ve added to this post – a conversation between me (currently in Perth, W.A.) and my parents (currently in Melbourne, Vic.).

Good advice – I use Skype a lot and have Skype In and Out. Recently rang my nephew in the USA – I rang to his mobile number from Skype – we spoke for 20 minutes and it cost me about 50cents. Try that Australia to US on traditional phones. Would have had to rob Fort Knox
