Origami. Make funky little origami cranes using isolation tags. Cut the string part off and use it to suspend the crane from somewhere in your room
Mobile. Taking the origami one step further. Collect some dried spinifex spears to use as the main arms of your mobile. Then, using minsup clips attach your origami cranes to them and hang from the ceiling of your room
Gardening. Collect old waterbottles and convert them into pot plants. Use them to grow salad vegetables and herbs to spice up that tired old crib menu you’re so sick of
Gekko Fetch. Got a gekko living in or outside your room? Watch it scuttle about as you throw it’s favourite food out for it
Cockroach Racing. Get your mates together on shiftchange and take bets on whose cockroach will win
Sound Proofing. Collect up those thousands of ear plugs you’ve got floating around and attach them to a piece of cardboard. Then attach the cardboard to the walls joining your noisy neighbour’s room. For a really ‘funky’ look, attach them so that the ear plugs are visible after applying them in colour patterns.
Sculpting. Make little butterfly sculptures out of your used safety glasses. Remove the lenses from the frames and attach them to freshly collected spinifex grass or other plant material that can be bent and twisted to form the body of the butterfly.
Animation film. Using your mobile phone and your laptop, create a stop animation movie. You could draw your images or create 3D characters using blutack
Scrimshaw. Don’t know what to do with that horrible soap the cleaning contract company leaves in your room all the time? Easy. Run the soap under hot water and scrap away the top so that you have a smooth surface. Then, using any sharp tool you can lay your hands on scratch a picture deep into the soap. Next, find an old biro and spill the ink onto the scratched surface of the soap. Rub away the soap surface so the ink stays only in the scratched bits. Cool, hey?
What about covering your wall in butchers paper and draw pictures depicting your moods etc
Yes, Scholtsy! You did love my art exhibitions didn’t you? Don’t think I mentioned poetry either! :p
